Eco-Conscious Gardening
Due to the restrictions on leisure activities currently in place, people are looking for new hobbies in which to invest their time. Thankfully, there are a number of ways to stay active on your own property which can lower your stress and save you money.
Gardening is a great way to improve the health of your local eco-system, but only if you enact proper practices. Planting the wrong plants, or inefficiently using water, may seem like relatively small problems, but they can have huge effects down the road. About one-third of the United States’ water usage goes towards landscaping, which places great strains on the availability of water in other places. By utilizing rain barrels and only using sprinkler systems at certain times of day, you can conserve water and better put it to use.
By growing plants that are native to your area you can attract birds and beneficial insects which will deter harmful insects from destroying your crops. This has also has the added benefit of preventing the need for harmful pesticides.
