How to choose your ceiling tiles?
The ceiling tiles are a simple and cheap solution for dressing or renovate a ceiling. There are different models of ceiling tiles for gluing or hanging, all with different characteristics.
Why choose ceiling tiles?
Installing ceiling tiles is a quick and inexpensive solution in the case of a renovation:
- A ceiling that is cracked or has peeling paint can be quickly refinished with ceiling tiles.
- This solution is also suitable for reworking a ceiling with irregularities or asperities.
Ceiling tiles can be glued or fixed to a framework. Besides the aesthetic aspect, ceiling tiles offer additional advantages; namely a significant financial aspect (these materials are inexpensive), sound and thermal insulation interesting as well as a simple installation to implement when glued.

CEILING TILES TO BE GLUED
Glue-on tiles are available in various materials, as shown below:
- Expanded polystyrene tiles for ceilings
Expanded polystyrene is the most common material for renovating a ceiling with tiles. These tiles are very light; it is easy to handle: its installation is facilitated. These models of polystyrene ceiling tiles are also inexpensive. The wide variety of patterns (float effect, roughcast, smooth or moulded appearance) offers many decoration options.
- PVC tiles
PVC tiles are available in several thicknesses. In low thickness, they are ideal for dressing items that require many cuts such as beams or hooks. These are fire-resistant and waterproof; they are also rot-proof. With various patterns, they offer many decorative possibilities.
- Polyurethane tiles
Polyurethane tiles are light and easy to handle. They have the same qualities as polystyrene tiles, but their finish is more elaborate: their patterns are finer, and they may include moldings. These tiles are lightweight, strong and undeformable; polyurethane tiles can be painted.
CEILING TILES FOR HANGING
Suspended ceiling tiles make it possible, for example, to correct too great a ceiling height or to hide insulation materials. Placed on a metal framework, they can also be used to pass the networks (water, electricity, heating) and even to embed lighting.
- Slabs in mineral matter
Mineral tiles are made from mineral fibres. This type of tile is available in several colours, thus offering more possibilities in terms of decoration. With their interesting sound absorption quality, they make it possible to soundproof a room effectively.
- Wooden slabs
The wooden slab, a noble material, offers a very aesthetic finish. Available in many colours and species, they offer many decorative possibilities. Wooden slabs are most often made of particleboard covered with melamine. With a designer appearance, the wooden slabs also have good acoustic and thermal performance.
