When people think about renovating their homes, they often put all of their attention on the walls or bringing in new fixtures or furniture. As a result, windows are often overlooked, which is a shame considering that it has the potential to yield a significant impact on any home remodelling project.

Now if you’re reading this, then you are probably satisfied with your existing blinds and shutters in Sydney , so there’s no need to purchase new ones. You will find that there are a few things that you can do to refresh the look of your old roller blinds.

Fabric decorations

The simplest way to redecorate roller blinds in Sydney is to append new fabric on the old one. The process is relatively simple, and all you need to do is measure the size of your roller blind as well as that of the new fabric that you would later attach to the old one. It is recommended that you cut the new fabric a few inches wider to account for any errors and make it easier for you to glue everything together.

As for your choice of fabric, you can opt for ones made from synthetic or natural fibres with different patterns or in one colour. It ultimately depends on your aesthetic preferences. That said, it would be best to choose light fabric as opposed to heavy ones which might add undue strain to the roller blinds.

You can use glue to stick the new fabric unto the surface of your old roller blind. Just be careful not to leave unsightly folds and creases as you envelop the blind with the new material. Cut off the excess then leave the blind to dry and you’re good to go!

Painting old roller blinds

If you don’t mind putting up with the extra work, another option that you can take is redecorate your blinds and add a fresh coat of paint. It’s a reasonably straightforward process, and all you need is fabric paint, some brush or sponges and a bit of creativity. You can use sponges in different shapes and sizes to come up with designs that are distinctly your own.

Perhaps the best thing about repainting your roller blinds is that you can repeat the process as often as you like for as long as the material is in good condition. No reason to stick with the same boring design year after year and you can work on new designs whenever a new inspiration hits.

So there you have it — a few options for redecorating old roller blinds. As you may have already realised, there is always something that you can do to breathe new life to your old blinds and spruce up your home without having to spend a significant amount of money.
